The parent company of UK property firms SearchFlow and Xit2 has appointed a new chief executive for its European operations
SearchFlow, the conveyancing property search company, and financial IT firm Xit2, were originally part of Macdonald Dettwiler & Associates.
MDA, a Canadian firm known for its space technology, was tempted to expand into the UK market by the introduction of Home Information Packs – a decision widely seen at the time as curious.
It set up MDA Advantage and went on to purchase SearchFlow, set up by a former entrepreneur of the year, Mark Riddick. However, MDA’s shares took a battering on the Montreal Stock Exchange when the UK government U-turned on the timing and implementation of HIPs.
MDA subsequently decided to quit its non-core markets, and in January 2011 sold its entire information products division.
Stuart Pearce, who remained with the business – Decision Insight Information Group – as CEO had announced his decision to step down.
His successor has been announced as Marshall King.
As CEO for Decision Insight’s European operations, King will oversee key operating units including: SearchFlow; Decision Insight Hub, which plays a key role within the National Land Information Service (NLIS), one of the first electronic service delivery initiatives in the UK; Millar & Bryce, Scotland’s largest commercial provider of title and legal information; Rochford Brady, Ireland’s leading provider of authoritative property information required by conveyancing solicitors for completing property transactions; xit2; and Wertweiser, a joint venture with HVB Bank providing web-based information services to support professionals in determining residential property valuations in Germany.
Prior to joining Decision Insight, King was group chief executive for RFIB Group, the international Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance broker.
He was also a managing director of HomeServe.
Stuart Pearce is to leave the company at the end of the year to pursue other interests.
