Five charges relate to making or supplying an article for use in fraud and date from April 1 2010 to September 22 2010.

The remaining 11 offences see Scott accused of fraud by abuse of position and date from March 31, 2010 to January 21 this year. There are four alleged victims.

All charges relate to his company, the Wigton-based Donald Scott Land and Estate Agents.

The newspaper reports that the case was adjourned to Carlisle Crown Court on September 14.

This is the sort of thing that really doesn't help our reputation. Incredibly frustrating when something like this happens because all it does is tar us all with the same brush.

  • Emma Mitchell

When you read articles where certain estate agents abuse their position it really doesn't place confidence in the industry, even though the majority of estate agents provide an overall fantastic service to their clients. Hopefully the man in question will be punished appropriately.

  • Richard White

@ Karl. It happens in every walk of life and every industry and everyone knows it. I wouldn't be too concerned.

  • Neil Briggs

Disappointing to see, as always, but as Richard says this is an isolated incident and not indicative of a wider malaise.
