Countrywide: London auction homes to be sold via outside firm

Countrywide’s London properties are in future to be sold via the Auction House UK company - and the Countrywide-branded auction which was to have been held today has been cancelled.

Lots that were due to go to today’s auction will now go to the next scheduled Auction House event, on February 22.

Auction House UK was formed in 2007 and is now the country’s largest residential auctioneer, as well as being the second largest commercial property auctioneer in terms of lots sold.

It was the only UK auctioneer to sell over 3,000 lots in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and yesterday we reported its claim to have set a monthly record with over 700 lots listed in February.

With 40 auction rooms across England, Wales & Scotland, the brand accounts for more than 12 per cent of all property auction sales nationally.

“Not only does this apply to our forthcoming sale on February 22 but also a further six sales in April, May, July, September, November and December this year” according to Auction House director and auctioneer Andrew Binstock.

Selling off the family silver ......

If it's not one thing, it's another...

Countrywide can't stay out of the headlines for love nor money at the moment. I bet Foxtons are laughing, their mantle as the estate agents everyone loves to hate/mock has firmly been taken by CW in the last year or so.

I'm sure it's all part of a wider restructuring plan from Platt and her team, but they are making a bit of a pig's ear (to say the least) of all this. Retail and estate agency aren't natural bedfellows, surely someone had the foresight to understand this?

Could be due to property sales falling at auctions at the moment. I guess you need to sell a certain amount at the right price to justify the cost of auction, when the majority don't sell you have problems.

On the plus side it could mean less new homes under the hammer, on the negative side it could mean even more repeats of old homes under the hammer.
