Disruptors with a difference: Rugby players open agency in containers

It’s an eye-catching combination - former professional rugby players turn estate agents, set up in converted shipping containers, and promise in time-honoured fashion to “shake up the business.”

Today sees the launch of just such an agency, NEXA Bristol, opening its office in refurbished containers in the city's Wapping Wharf area.

NEXA Bristol is the brainchild of a group of professional Bristol Rugby players who have since developed careers in the property sector, mostly as developers.

The trio say they were frustrated with the traditional UK estate agency model when working on their own property businesses, and now promise to “turn the Bristol market upside down.”

Their launch statement says their model is based on offering clients a single point of contact from their team of highly experienced and knowledgeable property experts, to advise and look after their own individual customers from start to finish, whether they are looking at renting, buying, selling, or developing property.

Former Bristol Rugby players Daniel Gray, Rob Higgitt and Olly Kohn are joining forces with Daniel's brother Jamie Gray in establishing NEXA Bristol to forge, as they say, “a better way of doing business in property.”

This follows a trial of the model in Portsmouth.

Jake Gready (pictured top), an existing agent in Bristol, has joined to head up the team as managing director at NEXA Bristol. His career in property spans 25 years.

"I really feel Bristol is ready for this new model of estate agency where everything is focused around the providing continuity for the customer” he says.

If any ex Bath players fancy doing the same thing, I'll be there in a shot!!! Sounds like a fun way to do business. Good luck!

These businesses are always launched by people with no experience in agency because 'we were unhappy with the service when we sold a property...' or 'it was frustrating to deal with agents, we can do it better'. Wish them well but don't pretend they're going to do anything different or even ground-breaking (other than the cabins).
