The agency leading the Say No To Rightmove campaign has returned all of its offices and brands to Zoopla.
The Acorn Group, which also includes the John Payne and Langford Russell brands, was back on Zoopla this week alongside Acorn’s new homes division and its premium brand, Unique.
This amounts to a total of 40 branches.
Say No To Rightmove’s campaign website launched in mid-March, just before the spring Coronavirus lockdown, and quickly gathered support from agents generally unhappy about Rightmove fees and particularly concerned about the effects of the pandemic on business.
The campaign’s most recent update, some five weeks ago, set out five demands it wanted from Rightmove. There has been no response from the portal, which reported only a minor loss of agency membership in its latest trading statement.
Now Acorn has listed on Zoopla as well with chief executive Rob Sargent saying: “The key behind the decision to return to Zoopla revolved around a desire to build a genuine working partnership with the business’s portal suppliers and Zoopla appear to be demonstrating a clear understanding of the challenges facing the UK estate agency industry.”
This represents another PR coup for Zoopla which recently reported two per cent growth in customer numbers year on year.
Its chief commercial officer Andy Marshall says: “The Acorn Group is a figurehead and thought leader for the industry that is recognised widely for its acumen and incisive approach to business.”
He continues: “With our laser-focused, bespoke approach to customer success, we look forward to supporting Acorn as it sets new benchmarks in growth and realises its exacting ambitions. We are delighted that Acorn has chosen to partner with us, and we look forward to cementing our relationship for the long term.”
Zoopla also says there’s been “an overwhelmingly positive response” to its decision to offer free portal usage, worth upwards of £30 million, in light of the lockdown.

SNTR campaign achieved so much, oh wait......
Rebellion/liberation movements take time to effect action. Not sure 6 months under 'lockdown' is sufficient to make any opinion ...
Rightmove's aggressive business tactics had to eventually create a backlash...?
So has the Acorn Group left Rightmove? If they have fair play for leading from the front - hopefully this will embolden other agents. If he hasn't it's pointless news because Rightmove won't care if he signs up to another 100 different portals, as long as they are getting their pound of flesh.
