Estate Agent Today understands that butters john bee - the independent agency where former Countrywide head of estate agency Bob Scarff serves as a non-executive director - will this week announce the arrival of another former Countrywide manager.
Katy Harwood is to take up the position of associate director with the 17-branch business later this month. Until just before the Christmas break, Harwood held a senior regional position with Countrywide’s residential development division based in the West Midlands.
Scarff, who joined the butters john bee board 12 months ago, has told Estate Agent Today that Harwood will lead a drive to increase BJB’s share of the new homes market across its territory.
“BJB is a market leader in both the residential and commercial sectors, we are number one or number two in almost every location. To be as dominant as we are in commercial yet to under-punch our weight in Land and New Homes is crazy. I’m delighted that Katy has decided to join the team because I know from past experience that she has the skills and personality to lead the necessary changes we need to make” he told EAT.
Scarff and his BJB colleagues will be hoping that this appointment works out better than that of another Countrywide refugee.
Dominic Green, also recruited by Scarff, joined the business last summer in a role heading up Estate Agency and Auctions but EAT understands that he left the business in November and has not yet been replaced.

Can the last person at Countrywide please turn the light out?
just waiting for this phase three of a reshuffle as they so like to call it, 2 last year and if rumors are true another is on the way.
I used to work for Countrywide and I can't tell you enough how disgusted I was treated. I've been an estate for 20 years and they told me over the phone whilst on holiday with my family that they were closing my office in 2 weeks. They are not interested in looking after the staff.
Sorry to hear this. I was very much the same Phil, was given ten days notice to office closure. I was lucky enough to be relocated to another branch and different brand to who i was already with. How ever my commute to work is now gone from 15-20 minutes to nearly an hour with increase in pay to help cover the extra cost of the daily commute.. they have done this in the hope i will hand my notice in thus saving them the £3,000 in redundancy pay. having interview as we speak fingers crossed something else comes up soon. hope you managed to find something too phil
sorry typo below, meant to state no increase or help with the extra cost to cover daily commute
